We do not learn from experience... we learn from reflecting on experience.
- John Dewey
Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally about what to do or what to believe.
This course focuses on the key components of critical thinking:
Analysis (which includes learning to see, to connect, to question why, to examine beliefs, to count, to measure, to compare).
Judgment (which includes reflecting on experience, projecting possible consequences, morally considering).
Decision-Making (understanding how to make decisions, monitoring one’s decisions).
Critical thinking is not about memory or accumulating information. Instead it is about thinking and acting. In other words: study, problem solve, decide, act and evaluate consequences.
This class is ideal for front line leaders, and for formal leaders who want to develop and promote critical thinking in their teams. You are welcome to take back all that you learn and apply it to in-services, discussions, or daily work. The handbook provided will include all reproducible materials.
